International Marina & Boatyard Conference in Fort Lauderdale provides wealth of marina industry information
Marinas were the talk of Fort Lauderdale from Jan. 14-16 during this year’s International Marina & Boatyard Conference, the industry’s premier worldwide event. The 600,000-square-foot Broward County Convention Center teemed with marina owners, investors, boat manufacturers and other industry players listening to the speakers and making connections. The annual conference is a production of the Association of Marina Industries.
Among the informative sessions was “Do You Really Know What Your Marina is Worth?” SVN’s David Kendall was the sponsor host of the session, which drew a packed room.
“SVN was very pleased to support the International Marina and Boatyard Conference 2020 in Fort Lauderdale,” said Kendall, senior advisor with SVN Florida in Jupiter, FL. “The annual conference brings together the best and brightest in the industry and continues to deliver key content from the leading experts in our industry.”
The distinguished speakers at the sponsored session included Jim Frye, CMM, vice president of Westrec Marinas; Linwood Gilber, MAI, of Urban Realty Solutions; John Matheson, president of F3 Marina; and Quinn Heidenreich, director of mergers and acquisitions at Suntex Marinas. They led the audience through the secrets behind establishing value for your business and marina, what buyers are looking for and what sellers should be prepared to do before putting their businesses on the market.
The session gave participants the inside track into some of the top consolidators’ acquisition strategies and opportunities. “The topic is particularly relevant in today’s climate of consolidation in the marina world,” Kendall said.
Because of the high level of interest and requests for further discussion, Kendall is encouraging business owners to contact him for a consultation if they are considering selling all or part of a marine business.
“The sooner owners begin preparation for the ultimate sale of their businesses, the more options and higher value they will enjoy,” Kendall said. “My team of experts is ready to help.”
